May 2012 - Northern New Mexico
Loren and I met Ben, Mekayla, and Greg for some camping in the Jemez Mountains.
Greg shows off our makeshift picnic area. Despite the rain.
Traveling companions: Loren, Greg, Mekayla, and Ben.
Soda Dam. It's an ever-growing dam made from a geothermal spring bubbling up from the depths.
Hiking to a hot spring.
A beautiful view of and from the hot spring. We killed about three hours here...
Breakfast on what turned out to be a much sunnier day.
Hiking! Lance gets to join in the fun too.
Aspens, blue sky, puffy white clouds. Good day for an outing!
It was getting a bit warm, eh Lance?
Ben says, "What a spot?!?"
"For lunch?" Greg asks.
Being off-trail lead to a nice view, if a precarious perch.
Which way now?
Yeah, which way?
That looks like the real trail!
Only group shot of the trip, I think.
One of many such crossings.
I like climbing to the top of rock piles.
Relaxing by the river.
Ben and Mekayla during a rest.
Nearing the end of our hike along the East Fork Trail.
Part of Valles Caldera. I could stare at that all day!
On the way to Santa Fe, the Coloradans in the vehicle ahead of us.
Lance gets a treat at the motel in Santa Fe.
Artsy. And bright orange.
What are they looking at? Fun times in New Mexico!
The contrast between alive and dead.
