We'd already been in Sedona since the night before, but no pictures 'til now. Amazing I waited that long given the scenery we saw.
Nice to see pine trees!
And fall colors!
Now we're in the red rock country.
The red dirt definitely started turning Lance pink.
Those are awfully large rock cairns they have here. It's like they think we'll get lost or something.
Red rock, white rock.
In front of Boynton Canyon resort and some amazing rocks.
Loren in front of Boynton Spire, or some such thing.
It might have been windy...as Loren climbs on high.
Wind-blown and glowing hair.
Pascal's turn to be up high, plus Lance's floppy ear.
Yes, that's the wind. Lance can't quite pull that off on his own.
Walking along the road to Devil's Bridge. Unfortunately, you have to "share" the road (i.e. yield the right of way) to all the jeep tours which make lots of dust.
The colors were even more striking as we edged towards sunset.
Natural bridge: Devil's Bridge.
The bridge from almost directly underneath.
Another angle of the bridge.
The crew hangs out on top of the bridge.
Good sunset, pretty moon and Venus.
Sunset in Sedona.
White rock, red rock. About to enter the canyon containing the west fork of Oak Creek.
We highly recommend you do this hike if you have the chance. High canyon walls...
River crossings...
Beautiful stream and red rock...
And good company!
Lance navigates this river crossing
Don't cough too hard...might get a rock on your head.
Pascal and Lance.
Loren and red rock.
Nice trail!
This picture gives a better sense of the depth of the canyon.
More red and white rock!
I swear I slept a lot the night before.
Light reflecting from the canyon walls high up behind the camera gave some surreal lighting for pictures.
What are you waiting for?
Wow, Lance, we didn't know you were so ferocious.
Canyon wall.
I think this represented our furthest point out. It's possible to hike out of the canyon if you're willing to swim some stream crossings, hop over gigantic boulders, and traverse about 12 miles like that; we'll have to consider doing that some time.
Hanging around.
Loren being awesome!
West Fork Oak Creek.
Sunset somewhere between Phoenix and Tucson on the drive home.
Looking back towards Sedona. We're above the red rock country which dominates the rest of this album.
Red Rock Country.
The scenery was gorgeous.
Pretty sunset colors.
Nice view from the hotel. We really "roughed it" on this trip.
Several images stitched together vertically to try to capture the canyon wall. Still didn't succeed...
