Caption: Arjendu Pattanayak, a professor from Carleton, gives his talk at DAMOP. Arjendu and I never overlapped, but he was at Rice as a teaching postdoc before I went there, and I was at Carleton as an undergrad before he went there. I know him from when he interviewed at Carleton, from a visit I made to Carleton when I was a prospective grad student, and then from several other times we've crossed paths. He is a truly cool guy who is passionate about what he does.
