Given that it's 7 miles and 5000 feet to the bottom, hiking to the Colorado River and back in one day during the summer is ill-advised. Thinking we had enough water to sustain us, Keith, Ron (a guy we met at a viewpoint the night before), and I decided to attempt the feat. We left early in the morning...this is the beginning of the steep descent.
