About three weeks after graduation at Carleton, I took a really cool trip to Utah with two of my best friends (Keith and Mekayla) and Elizabeth, who quickly became a friend. We met in Reno (Mekayla and Elizabeth were already there for an engineering conference) and drove across Nevada, making a couple of stops along the way. After spending the first night in Great Basin National Park, we continued on to Utah, visiting parts of Bryce Canyon, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Escalante Petrified Forest, and Goblin Valley State Park. After 5 heady days of driving, hiking, and beautiful sights, we split up Somewhere-in-Utah (tm) and returned to our more normal lives.

East of Fallon, NV on U.S. Highway 50 is the Loneliest Phone in America (50 is known as the loneliest road in America). The phone wasn't so lonely this day...from left to right are Keith, Elizabeth, Mekayla, and I (Pascal).

Sand Mountain is located right next to that phone. It looked too good to pass up; I blistered my feet on the sand as it became warmer. Climbing to the top of the dune didn't help either.

Keith's feeling mystical today.

The Lehman Caves are in Great Basin. They were very cool.

Keith has arrived at the Pearly Gates for perhaps the only time in his existence (pre or post death).
